Reviews about Brickhouse BBQ
- 1 / 5By Nora SchollWe have been coming to Brickhouse every Tuesday since they started trivia around a year ago. It was great then. It has steadily grown in popularity since and the management has done nothing to accommodate the large number of people every week. Some weeks there will be one server and one bartender for the entire packed restaurant. They have an entire upstairs that they don't even utilize.
Despite these issues, the food is fairly good and the bartender and most of the servers are great. The exception is the purple haired server who is consistently very rude and condescending to everyone. She is concerned about the fire code which is fine, but her complete lack of hospitality is the issue here. After several members of my team were yelled at this week we will no longer be returning.
It's a shame, there are a lot of great things about Brickhouse. I hope they can work on accommodating the trivia goers, and regular patrons on Tuesdays and find more servers who know what customer service is.December 12, 2016 - 2 / 5By Jared WoldFar too expensive for mediocre barbecue.
I stopped by this place before the state basketball championships because a friend had a 2 for 1 coupon he and his brother were going to use. Talk about an unfunded mandate!
My other friend and I had to pay full price, and this is one of the few times I have had this kind of sticker shock for a meal. We ordered a drink apiece, a meal, and water, and it came to about $40 per person. The barbecue itself was similar to Smoky Jon's (vinegar based) at about twice the price. Since I prefer molasses based barbecue or dry rub, I'll not be eating here again.
The other strike against Brickhouse was that the service was terrible the time I went here. Our waitress was not very good, but I could tell she was par for the course in watching other tables and how they were served.
If I want barbecue near downtown Madison, I'll go to Famous Dave's or Fat Jack's instead.July 25, 2016 - 3 / 5By Tim HalloranForemost, the food was excellent. But, everything else was odd. Parents and brothers were in town visiting this last weekend, I heard great reviews about this place so I recommend it to them, we sat down in a spot the waitress didn't like so we switched for her, then she spent a minute explaining to us what we can't do (we're cracking down on this and that, no red cards, we ID, etc, etc). Just awkward. After that it was better, she was courteous but like I said, just was sorta odd. 2 or 3 separate songs with the F word repeating were playing on her playlist and my folks are Baptist so it was cringe-worthy for all of us at the table. I asked for BBQ sauce on the side (watching sugar) and it wasn't (whatever it happens); 2 order sides were mixed up (also whatever it happens). We left and gave a good tip but I wouldn't bring anyone back here again unless we really needed some good BBQ. They do that very well.July 06, 2016
